INSTITUTIONS - Royal College of Technology (RCT) Foundation

There is an acute shortage of manpower in the areas of technology. This is because Uganda elitist education system inherited from the colonial era. When the country gained political independence in 1962, we woke up to realize that while we have an adequate supply of well-educated Ugandans for white collar positions, there were hardly any Ugandans in the crucial areas of technology. This shortage of qualified technocrat’s tables low, medium and high endures to this day.

HM The Omukama wants to start a Royal College of Technology in the sub of Kyabigambire, in the village of Kibugubya. This school would later become a university.
HM The Omukama, himself a graduate of a British Polytechnic, is keen to see young people acquire knowledge and technical skills to accelerate industrial development in Bunyoro and Uganda.

When the Royal College of Technology project gets off the drawing board, we will need the support of our friends. At the end of the physical plant, large amounts of money will be needed to furnish and equip the College.

The Foundation helps the RCT to partner with the community, pooling available resources, so that the RCT will be in a prime position to meet the challenges faced by the region and beyond.

If you wish you can be a Benefector (USD 500 +) or an Supporter (USD 250 +), too. You can donate via paypal donation@bunyoro-kitara.org.

Donations to RCT are cumulative and donations over USD 1,000 are eligible for RCT Foundation memberships. Foundation memberships are for life.

APPEAL - ONE NOTEBOOK COMPUTER PER CHILD (ONPC) {April 2016-end of 2019}
Aims to provide notebook computers and Train the Teachers in Bunyoro to teach children Coding, including Scratch (an educational programming language developed by MIT Media Lab Lifelong Kindergarten group) ~
Learning and innovation skills increasingly are being recognized as the skills that separate students who are prepared for increasingly complex life and work environments in the 21st century, and those who are not.
To be effective in the 21st century, citizens and workers must be able to create, evaluate, and effectively utilize information, media, and technology.
Scratch helps young people learn to think creatively, reason systematically, and work collaboratively — essential skills for life in the 21st century.
Scratch is fun; easy; provided free of charge; PLUS children can program and share interactive media such as stories, games, and animation with people from all over the world; and it is the basic for learning next level computer programming languages, eg Python, Java, C, Swift, etc.
Donors contribute towards the ONPC Appeal - buying notebook computers; train the teachers to teach children (age 5-17) Coding including Scratch; on-going support and we will publish periodic updates about the details and the progress of the Project.
"Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime."
Let us provide the necessary equipment and financial support for the children - and they are shaping the future of Bunyoro, Uganda.
